When creating oil portraits, use solvent free mediums and vegetable oil. Wear latex gloves. It’s probably less harmful to do without. If there is no ceiling in your studio to hold odors in use fans to keep air moving.
Considering that acrylics are less toxic than oil paints, do not ignore the fact that acrylics may still contain poisonous pigments. Water used to clean these brushes and other materials to be disposed must be disposed properly.
When oil based inks are used in printmaking, use turpenoid instead of paint thinner because it has less toxic fumes. Use rubber gloves when handling oil based inks. In hotter weather open the doors to get cross ventilation.
